The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a special program on February 21, 2025, allowing the import of electric vehicles/electric motorcycles by Myanmar citizens working abroad at a rate of five percent of their salary or other income transferred through bank channels.

 

In order to further promote the use of electric vehicles in the country and to support environmental conservation, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a notification on October 26, 2023, stating that as a special program for Myanmar citizens working abroad to remit their salaries or other income back to Myanmar through bank channels, “regular wage earners (including seafarers) and other income earners who remit US$50,000 or more within a year will be allowed to import electric vehicles/electric motorcycles at a rate of 5% of the total remittance value per year.” Eligible individuals will be allowed to import electric vehicles/electric motorcycles individually, and if the value of the vehicles to be imported individually is not enough, they will be allowed to import them collectively.

The Chairman of the National Security Council and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand met and discussed issues of stability and peace in the border areas of the two countries, the rule of law, the fight against illegal trade and terrorism.

The delegation led by the Chairman of the National Security Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, H.E.Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, met at the Bayintnaung Residence in Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of February 22.

 

 

During the meeting, they discussed the conditions for continuing to strengthen the existing friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries, the conditions for investigating and taking decisive action against those involved in online fraud (Telecom Fraud), online gambling, in cooperation with neighboring countries and international organizations, the conditions for Myanmar to take decisive action against online fraud (Telecom Fraud), online gambling as a national responsibility, They discussed the conditions for continued cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the border areas of the two countries, the rule of law, combating illegal trade and terrorism, and exchanging information, Myanmar’s efforts to hold a free and fair general election, and ways to upgrade cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.

 

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the National Security Council, the Prime Minister, Joint Secretary of the Council, General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers, and senior military officers, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Gen. Songwit Noonpackdee, the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar, military attachés, and officials.
