He said that hopes for major progress in the short term on the Burmese issue are diminishing.

Cambodia, the rotating chair of ASEAN, urged Myanmar to cease hostilities as soon as possible and to engage in mutual dialogue with all parties concerned.

ASEAN is deeply concerned about the rise of violence in Myanmar, Cambodia said.
